Guest Speaker: Jeffrey Croonen
Jeffrey Croonen, former CFL Blue Bomber and Tiger-Cat, will be our guest speaker for the evening. Jeffrey will share his story that inspires listeners to reach for their goals despite the unexpected challenges and obstacles that life throws their way.
Jeffrey Lawrence Croonen was born into a humble, well-grounded family in Hamilton, Ontario. The middle of three children, he experienced many of the typical childhood struggles. Living and learning with ADHD presented challenges and frustrations which, coupled with intimidation and ridicule, led Jeffrey to understand at a young age that he alone was accountable for capturing his dreams – each and every one of them.
Through hard work and determination, Jeffrey received a full football scholarship to attend the Eastern Michigan University where his dream as a professional football player began. Drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as a defensive tackle and linebacker in 1989, he led the Bombers in special-teams tackles during their 1990 Grey Cup victory against the Edmonton Eskimos. In 1991 he spent a year with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after signing as a free agent. This was followed by signing with the Toronto Argonauts in 1992 but he was released mid-season, in 1993, after fracturing three ribs during a game. He then signed with the Edmonton Eskimos and won his second Grey Cup.
Although his football career and dream came to an abrupt end due to a serious injury, Jeffrey stayed true to his nature and never faltered from his passion for life and all that it holds. Now a Celebrity Inspirational Speaker, Jeffrey tells his story with such enthusiasm and heartfelt passion for life that he touches even most lost soul.
