Making it to the Big League
Congrat’s to my friend Louis Leblanc who was just called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) to the Montreal Canadian’s of the NHL !
Yes, for my young readers out there, I said Montreal Canadians. One of the Original Six Hockey Teams that has more Stanley Cup Championship’s then any other NHL Team.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Louis Leblanc at a Charity Golf Tournament at Piper’s Heath in Milton ON back in early October. When I was introduced to him I said, “I Jeffrey Croonen”, he replied “Louis Leblanc”. I then said surprisingly, “Hey I watched a Lou Leblanc play in the World Junior Hockey Tournament last Christmas.” Lou politely replies, “Yes I am that Louis Leblanc”? Too funny.
What I wanted to discuss was how this soft spoken, polite, young man from Montreal made it to the NHL at the young age of 20 years. Wow, that's awesome and amazing all in ONE!
Never forget that whatever dream or goal.
You may have it can always and I mean ALWAYS be accomplished if you truly believe in your abilities and more importantly believe in YOU!
I don't know how many young kids I have heard say, “I want to play in the NHL one day” then they pause and comment, “Well the odds of that is pretty slim and my friends don't think that is possible or my parents want me to go into medicine.”
I am 45 years young and I have accomplished some amazing things in my time and was told by my High School Guidance Counsellor to set my Goals and Dreams a lot lower because I was setting myself up for failure.
One thing for sure is, You will always fail if you don't try so please stop looking for an excuse or allowing someone close to you tell you what you can or cannot achieve.
You can be just like my friend Louis, set a goal to make the NHL, work hard, stay focused and don’t let anything stand in your way.
If someone is standing in your way, then they are not there to help you, so ask them to move politely and get back to living your Dreams/Goals and get out there and make YOUR life happen!
Dreams are not just meant for those who achieve. They are meant for YOU!!!
